LARGE SPACES ARE ITS KINGDOM – LIONSBOT INTRODUCES AUTONOMOUS WAREHOUSE CLEANING ROBOT REX

Rex can clean a football field in one hour – without human oversight.

SINGAPORE, 27 October 2021 - Lionsbot, a Singapore-headquartered smart robotics company, today announced the launch of Rex, its first ‘king-size' autonomous cleaning robot for large commercial spaces. The new scrubbing robot was conceptualised during the pandemic with the aim to both empower the cleaning workforce and to keep them safe.

The Rex - Latin for "King" - is engineered with commercial and industrial settings in mind, including airports, warehouses, convention centres and carparks. The robot is designed to provide ease of operation and accessibility, allowing a single cleaner to handle several cleaning robots via the LionsClean app at the same time, freeing up their time to perform higher value tasks. To achieve that, Lionsbot is introducing multiple features, such as a 3D LiDAR sensor and auto docking mechanics.
Specifications
Fully autonomous and built from high-quality, durable materials, the Rex is adept at navigating tight corners. It offers a wide brush coverage at 81cm and a tight turning radius at 2.5m, and has a liquid capacity of a 140-litre water tank and 140-litre wastewater tank. Despite having the same footprint as other robots in its size class, Rex has a 23% bigger cleaning width, holds 23% more fresh water, and has 30% more cleaning efficiency.
The robot has a battery runtime of up to 10 hours and a max speed of 1.4m/s, and can clean 4,032m² in an hour - the equivalent of a football field. It has two 16-inch brushes that deliver up to 80kg downward brush pressure, as well as chemical and defoamer dosing functions. The chemical dosing system allows the robot to accurately control the ratio of chemicals to water. Rex is the first robot on the market to feature a defoamer cleaning system.

The autonomous floor scrubber can be operated via three methods - the LionsClean mobile app, a touchscreen interface on the robot's body, as well as manually with its handlebar. These options means that cleaning teams, regardless of their technical expertise and connectivity of the location, can use the Rex to its fullest and integrate it to their day-to-day operations seamlessly.
Ambient lighting and in-built speakers on the machine contribute to the robot's personality, designed to conjure up feelings of wonder and disbelief reminiscent of sci-fi movies while not compromising on performance.
3D LiDAR Sensor

The Rex is powered with a high-definition precision LiDAR sensor. With 32 lasers, four depth cameras and three sonar sensors, it has a scan coverage diameter of 200 metres, enabling it to scan its environment comprehensively and optimise its cleaning path accordingly. Additionally, the Rex's active obstacle tracking offers a level of safety while providing consistent high-quality cleaning with better localisation and greater accuracy.
Auto docking
The Rex is the first robot in its size class to be equipped with auto-docking capabilities. After each cleaning cycle, it automatically returns to the docking station where it charges and manages its solution levels with automated rinsing and water exchange. This allows robot operators to maintain the Rex with ease without compromising on efficiency.
Dylan Ng Terntzer, CEO and Co-Founder of LionsBot, said: "We are thrilled to unveil the Rex to the world. It is jam-packed with technical prowess, and we are confident that every operator will love to have a Rex as their day-to-day work companion. At LionsBot, we refuse to stick to the playbook when making robots. We always strive to develop robots that are fun and exciting. Leveraging our track record with the LeoBot, we also want to ensure that our robots are easy to use for everyone. By making robots that cleaners love to use, we aim to give our cleaners superpowers by easing their workload as one cleaner can operate multiple robots at a time.
"Beyond empowering cleaners, more significantly, we see the Rex as a standing testament to Singapore's engineering capabilities. Despite the logistic challenges and supply-chain constraints caused by the pandemic, we were able to bring the Rex from conceptualisation to deployment within a mere 10 months during this unprecedented period."

The first Rex robot will be deployed at National Gallery Singapore in December 2021. More robots will be rolled out in LionsBot's 22 markets in the near term. The Rex will make its debut outside Singapore at The Cleaning Show 2021, the UK's largest cleaning and hygiene event, taking place at ExCel, London on 2 - 4 November 2021.
